Ohhhh its the tea alright.
Pretty sure this tea isn’t laced with a very slow acting poison, and also that this friendly assistant is an entirely trustworthy person who is not actually the big bad of this story arc.
It’s just allergies. Look at all that dust!
I still think it’s Beast Disease – black phlegm is a marker for the disease they spread according to in-universe newspaper cuttings. If Serule’s assistant is involved in blood magic like we think then she might be siphoning power from her. And yes, the tea might be suspect…
