We had a university course crying how Shakespeare was too much to handle without groups and disclaimers…
Your story was screwed you made the site.
Terribly sorry for anyone really struggling with these, but you knew you could expect these sort of things pop up every now and then.
These disclaimers are likely for more “gentle souls”, to put it nicely…
No one was asking for content warnings. No one was complaining that things were too difficult to read. I made the decision to provide these warnings myself because I want to delve into darker topics, and I want to give fair warning to readers. I’ve provided these content warnings for readers to make their own decision on whether or not to continue, as this current chapter is a big departure from where the comic started out seven years ago.
So I have to gently disagree. I’d rather be kind to a “gentle soul” than blindside someone with a story they weren’t ready for.
Definitely. And you are genuinely a better person for it. The world does need kindness more than it need cruelty.
Yet, I still find myself ever so often poking these things…
Not to mention, there are times when the content warning is more than warranted. I honestly doubt we’ll be diving where I, for example, would put it (not even sure where that’d be really), but at the end of the day, it’s nice to give a warning of a bend, even if it’s not a hook. You know someone drives themselves to ditch anyhow and you can say you told them. XD
And above all else, if anyone happens to bumb into these, please do not take this as dismissal of your issues with related topics.
These things do happen, they can have happened to you and despite you having likely lost a lot of trust in people around, please find someone you can share your experience. It’s anything but easy most of the time, but I promise, shared load is way easier to carry.
And after that, the impossible, the second opinion. Even second time risk of running into bad individuals is there, no sugarcoating it. But to find the person, the group, the community you can share your burden with, is beyond valuable.
And I know you can do it! You can find them!
